buying and selling in foster city
Before you buy or sell a Foster City Eichler
Buying: what we check
- The radiant heating: does it work, what's been converted, and what a fix costs
- Roof type, age and insulation on low-slope and flat roofs
- Single-pane glass, energy upgrades and permits for past work
- Beams, siding and overhangs for dry rot and pest damage
- Foster City's design guidelines and any single-story overlay rules for the address
Selling: how we market it
- Prep that respects the architecture, with Compass Concierge if needed
- Mid-century staging and photography that shows the light and the atrium
- Marketing aimed at modern-home buyers, not just the general market
- Pricing from Eichler sales, not just nearby ranch homes

More Eichler neighborhoods
The Eichlers of Foster City are found scattered and in small groupings in three distinct neighborhoods. The 200-plus Eichler homes of Foster City were built between 1963 and 1968, among the first homes in the new town. Neighborhood One, street names were named after ships. Neighborhood Two, with streets named for a variety of birds including Crane Avenue, Sanderling Street and Egret Street. Neighborhood Four used all nautical names including Barkentine, Schooner and on Yawl and Mainsail court.

Lagoons run through Foster City, and planes descend overhead toward San Francisco Airport.
None of the lagoon homes are Eichlers because these lots were reserved for custom homes, though there are five Eichlers in a row on Beach Park Boulevard, facing San Francisco Bay. They face the trail that runs atop the levee.
