buying and selling in menlo park
Before you buy or sell a Menlo Park Eichler
Buying: what we check
- The radiant heating: does it work, what's been converted, and what a fix costs
- Roof type, age and insulation on low-slope and flat roofs
- Single-pane glass, energy upgrades and permits for past work
- Beams, siding and overhangs for dry rot and pest damage
- Menlo Park's design guidelines and any single-story overlay rules for the address
Selling: how we market it
- Prep that respects the architecture, with Compass Concierge if needed
- Mid-century staging and photography that shows the light and the atrium
- Marketing aimed at modern-home buyers, not just the general market
- Pricing from Eichler sales, not just nearby ranch homes

More Eichler neighborhoods
Menlo Park has small groupings of Eichlers that are little known, even to experienced Eichler watchers.
There are only 50 or so homes built by Joe Eichler in the town of Menlo Park. But they are a varied lot, ranging from some of the first he ever built to some of the last. They include some of his smallest early homes, and some of his largest early homes—mid-1950s houses that provide 2,800 square feet of indoor space on large lots.
Most of the Eichler homes in Menlo Park are little known even among fans because they are in small clusters, and many cannot be seen at all from the street.
Teardowns and remodels have replaced or changed many of them, while others keep their original design.

Each lot in Oakdell Park is a quarter acre or more, on a cul-de-sac or a lightly traveled street.

OAKDELL PARK EICHLER TRACT
Fourteen Eichler homes were built in Oakdell Park, designed by Anshen & Allen and A. Quincy Jones, each on a lot of a quarter acre or more. They were individually designed, with glass-walled living rooms opening to private patios, and the lots were fenced.
